Stress Free Holiday Giving Ideas

Right about now, you just might be ready to find a cave and hide the rest of December.  The parties, the shopping, the planning, the baking, the cooking, the decorating, the shopping, the packing, the cleaning, the hosting, the wrapping, the eating, the shopping, the gifting, the Secret Santas, the gift exchanges…….Where does it all end??!!

It’s not too late the change your gift giving strategy for 2019 holiday season.

No matter who you still need to purchase a gift for this year, you can still change direction…even if you already have some gifts for that person.  Instead of struggling to find The. Perfect. Gift., choose a charity to donate to in that person’s name.

Shower First Responders with Thanksgiving

Have you ever thought about the fact that while we are all making memories Thanksgiving day with our families & friends, there are men & women protecting us by patrolling our streets or waiting for the bell to ring at our fire stations?  They spend the day away from their families so we can safely be with ours.

While in college, I waited tables at a country club.  Easter Sunday lunch is a huge day at probably any country club.  We had a tremendous buffet brunch with 200 members on the RSVP list.  This was going to require all hands on deck.  Not one employee of the country club would be able to request the day off.  This was my ...

Super Summer Requires Plan

School’s almost out for summer.  Now what?   Either you’re still going to work or you’ll be at your home with your kids all day.  You need something for them to do so they don’t drive you insane with the, “We’re bored!” statement.  Who can blame them?  They’ve been cooped up in a school all year.  Their every move & thought directed.  Mix it up with downtime & scheduled fun time.
Here are some ideas to keep them busy, freshen their minds, build memories & save your sanity.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

On a return flight from Denver to help a client set-up her new home, I took time to watch the Fred Rogers, Mr. Rogers, documentary.  Boy, do you need a box of tissues for this one!  I kept thinking, oh I remember that, about really everything.  From the Trolley, to the puppets and that iconic sweater and sneakers, I remember everything about his show.  I could even sing along to his theme song he sang as he came in his front door.

“Don’t Forget to Show Love!”

One four year old boy’s saying, “Don’t forget to show love”. How is it that a four year old boy gets the purpose of life while most of us struggle 50, 60, 70 years to grasp this? Austin Perine saves all his allowance to buy sandwiches to pass out to homeless people because they may be hungry. At four, he sees the big picture; showing love to others instead of buying more toys for himself.

Fairy Godmother for Used Crayons

Your used, broken, nubby, flat, worn-out crayons could bring hours of joy, relief, fun & imagination to a sick child while in the hospital.  It’s true!  While reading Sunday’s Parade magazine article, America the Unique:  Celebrating Our True National Treasures, I read about the Crayon Initiative that re-makes these seemingly useless crayons into new Crayons for sick children.   So much better than sending used up Crayons to the landfill or keeping them around for Crayon-melting art projects you will probably never get to.  No, your kids will not miss that project.  They have other art project sets they ...

Organizing Changes Lives

In November 2016, the Styled & Organized team was contacted about a special family in desperate need of help.  After two years of fighting her husband’s cancer and one child’s severe allergies, Renee was overwhelmed.  Now a young widow with two small children, she was unable to see how to change their house back into their home.  They needed help!

In three days, the Styled & Organized team lead a group of volunteers from Renee’s church and the children’s school to pack up the entire house so new flooring could be installed.  After the new flooring was completed, we unpacked sorting, editing and organizing all along the way. We transformed a disorderly ...
