Lunch Box Strategies

With a brand new school year comes the opportunity to make packing lunch fun again!  Here is a list of easy ideas that can get school lunch packing rolling right along.

  • Plan to make school lunches right after dinner is over, and any favorite dinner leftovers can be loaded directly into their lunch box and into the refrigerator until morning.  Here’s a bright set of containers that are perfect for storing serving-sized portions of leftovers or healthy snacks.

  • Don’t forget to show a little lunch box love when you pack lunch for your little ones!  Lunch box notes are so much fun to send and to receive.  Here are some notes that are too cute for words.

  • If your kids are planning to pack their own lunches, a brand new lunchbox can be incredibly motivating!  Here are our current favorites from Target.  The Cat & Jack line of lunch boxes have fun features such as side mesh pockets to hold drinks, a place to write child’s name on interior, and handles that will allow them to clip it to their backpack (if needed).

Pick one, or all, of the ideas above, and your family will be well on their way to making school lunch fun again!  One more little tip:  cleaning out your refrigerator the week before school starts can ensure there is space to tuck the lunch boxes into.  They will be chilled and ready to go for their first day back to school.
