Kitchen Organizing 101 – Part 4
July 23, 2018By now, you are halfway finished fighting back against your bad kitchen whipping it into an amazing kitchen any chef would love. Who wouldn’t love an–easy–to–find coffee/tea station first thing in the morning? Who wouldn’t love a prep station that makes you look like a chef? We all would!
1. Coffee/Tea Stations work best when located on the outer rim near an entrance to the kitchen so guests can help themselves and you can find it faster in the morning.
- EDIT: Only save the most super special, most extraordinary, one–of–a–kind coffee mugs. Unmatched sets are so college.
- TRUTH: That coffee you bought but never liked is not going to be consumed by your once–a–year guests. Use it in your garden. Your plants will love it!
- SECRET: Sugar packet organizers offer everyone what they need in an easy–to–find manner.
2. Prep Stations work best near the cooktop or sink so rinsing & disposing are easy. Most kitchens are configured where the cooktop is one step away from the sink. In that case, place your prep bowls in the upper cabinet next to the cooktop and nearest the sink. Place prep gadgets (peeler, grater, measuring spoons) in a drawer below the cabinet.
- EDIT: Do you really need ALL of those gadgets? Are some possibly more for serving?
- TRUTH: Most of the time we already have a method to scoop, dice, crush, etc.when prepping our food. Rarely do you actually use a specially made gadget to help us with these chores. Only allow yourself to keep the “I would die without it” gadgets.
- SECRET: Use drawer organizers to help you organize your gadgets in an orderly fashion so they can always be found when they are called up to save the day.
Tomorrow when you stumble into your kitchen and find the “Easiest to Use” Coffee/Tea Station waiting for you, and when that first “cuppa” starts your day on the right foot, you can thank me.
Next week we tackle plates, bowls, serving pieces, flatware and serving flatware to get you ready to start hosting your friends & family.

I started organizing from a very early age. As a teenager, I tried very hard to have a messy room but only ended up having messy piles that were neatly arranged. Later in life, my friends started asking me to help them organize their closets, homes, garages, etc. It's something I love to do! Now, I have started a Professional Organizing business to do what I love to do everyday and at the same time help people take control of their lives and spaces. My services include helping people organize
