We are guessing that most home owners have not created a home inventory, and probably haven’t even thought about the need for one. We don’t want to add more to your “to do” list, but here are some compelling reasons why keeping a home inventory just makes sense:

When it’s time to unpack the contents of your home, there are a few methods that will make the unpacking easier.  Having a game plan for your team keeps everyone motivated because they’ll know what to do & what to expect.

 

1. BE AVAILABLE    Everyone should be available to the movers directing where items should go in your new home.  School age kids can help with this.

 

2. RECYCLE   Have movers take away as much packing material as possible.  Schedule a time for them to come back for the rest.

Make Moving Easy: Packing

When it’s time to pack the contents of your home, there are a few tools & methods of packing that will make the unpacking easier.

 

1. LIKE ITEMS    Box like items together in each room

 

2. CUSHION   For delicate breakables, line the bottom of the box with crumpled paper before packing wrapped breakables.  Before closing up the box, line the top of the box with crumpled paper.

 

3. LABEL Write on the outside of the box contents packed inside.

 

4. LUGGAGE  Pack as much clothing as you can into your luggage.  After closing on your new home, drive it over to your new home for instant clothing.  Unpacking the luggage immediately makes it even better.
