Kid’s Closet Chaos

Kid’s Closet Chaos

School is almost out & your child is moving from school clothes to swimsuits, shorts, T-shirts & flip-flops.  You’re so tired & over school that thinking about the clothes they’ve outgrown has you just buying more to tide them over.  There’s a Scarlet O’Hara attitude of just thinking about that tomorrow because tomorrow is another day.

But I’m here to tell you to seize the day!  Clear out the weight, chaos & excess of their clothes now so your summer will be light & carefree as it should be.

1. Laundry  Gather & process the laundry.  Not having all the pieces of a wardrobe creates hesitation & indecision in editing.  You might keep a pair of jeans because you can’t remember that there are 3 more pair in the dirty clothes hamper.

2.Hangers  Gather all empty hangers together for quick, easy access to the type of hanger you need for each garment.

3.Sort  Like items together.  Example: pull all the shirts together.  You may even want to take this one step further and separate the black shirts from the white shirts.

4.Edit  Pull out any garment that is:

a.Damaged

b.Worn looking

c.Too small

d.Your child really just doesn’t like it.

5.Organize  Start with anything that can hang & fill up the rods but not too full that everything is smooshed.  Then place any remaining clothes folded on shelves, in bins on shelves or drawers.  Shoes & accessories are last & over-the-door organizers can really help here.

This might be a multi-step process for you or you might finish it all at once.  Either way, let us know at the Better yet, post a before & after picture!  Happy organizing!!
