The Twelve Days of Holiday Organizing: Winterize Your Car

Winter Weather-Proof Your Car

Preparing your car for the cold (and possibly snowy and icy) weather will help you in the long run.  We offer this basic list of things to do to ensure your car is ready to drive you safely through the winter season:
  1. Check your antifreeze level, and fill it if needed.
  2. Check the tire tread.  If the tread is bad it may be time to invest in a new set of tires.  You will be so glad you did when you are driving across icy bridges this winter.
  3. Run your windshield wipers, and if they aren’t performing at their optimal level you may want to replace them now (or at least keep a new set handy in the trunk).
  4. Be sure to put your ice scraper in the glove compartment.
  5. Heading north? Be sure to add windshield wiper fluid for those much colder climates.  You’ll be glad you did when ice doesn’t start forming on your wipers then windshield.  Trust me.
We hope this list will help you remember to maintain your car into the winter months.  Performing these checks will keep you safely driving down the road no matter what the weather forecast says.
