Spring Clean Challenge: Week 4

Spring Clean Challenge: Week 4

Only 5 days left of the Styled & Organized Living Spring Clean Challenge.  You still have time to make a change in your home, family & life and win $20 to the Container Store!

My house looks & feels fresh.  I haven’t missed out on transitioning my wardrobe to lighter blouses, colors & accessories for spring.  Usually, I’m making do with lighter fabric clothes all in dark, drab colors during March.  Yuck!  This March my wardrobe has been much more fun.

My yard is a little jealous.  My house has been getting all of the attention.  It’s time to make our outdoor space as beautiful & springified as our indoor space.  We all definitely want to see pictures of pretty flowers planted, patio furniture ...

Spring Clean Challenge: Week 3

Spring Clean Challenge: Week 3

We are half way to clearing out the stale, dank odors of winter & breathing in the cool, fresh spring air into our homes.  It feels great! I’ve been looking fabulous if I do say so with my spring clothes & accessories back into my closet.    And two people have won a $20 Container Store gift card simply by posting their Spring Clean Challenge achievements athttp://www.facebook.com/styledandorganizedliving.

We accessorized our homes a little with the spring candles, flag or wreath on the front door.  What about the heavy throws out in each room?  The winter blankets on the beds?  Spring is the time to throw off the weight of winter & start fresh.  It’s time to finish accessorizing our homes for spring as ...

Spring Clean Challenge: Week 2

Spring Clean Challenge: Week 2

One week down & only 3 to go!  I’m already starting to see & feel a difference in my home by only spending 15-20 minutes or less each day making the change.  It’s incredible what a little & I mean little effort can do to change your outlook & your home.

Who’s as tired as I am after the spring forward time change.  No matter how I plan for that, it always gets me every year.  The whole week following is such a struggle to get up every day!  When you’re feeling like your legs are dragging weights & your eyelids just gained 20lbs. the best thing to do is wear something pretty & fresh.  A nice outfit brightens anyone’s day including your own!

Spring Clean Challenge

Spring Clean Challenge

With the weather being so incredibly nice today–warmer & cloudless, sunny sky–it makes me want to jump up and get the house & garden ready for spring and for the following summer fun.  Add the wind whipping around and I feel a little extra sassy. . . . But not sassy enough to do it all in one day or all by myself.  So let’s do those Spring Cleaning tasks together.

I propose a Spring Clean Challenge.  20 days to tick cleaning and “spring-afying” items off your To Do list.  20 days to make your home, family & yard ready for the rebirth of spring.

I promise that each task will take you no longer than 15 to 20 minutes.  Who’s with me?

I will post a new task for ...

Organize Your Garden

Organize Your Garden

In celebration of that little furry creature who burrows his home into the ground sometimes upsetting our lovely gardens, lawns & sometimes golf courses it’s time to get your garden tools & garden in order.  Warmer weather is just around the corner, flowers are back in the garden store and you’ll feel better when you have the flower beds cleaned out & new mulch added.  So roll up your sleeves, grab your gloves & get ready for the first warm, sunny day.

1. Reconnect your garden hose & store away spigot covers.  Nothing says spring like the garden hose back in place.  Test the hoses & sprayers to make sure they are still in good working order.

2.

What Would Santa Do?

What Would Santa Do?

I’ve had my Christmas tree up for a week, spent Black Friday in the shopping frenzy, mailed my Christmas cards, attended the town Christmas Tree lighting event & have my first gifts wrapped & under the Christmas Tree.  So why do I look at my calendar & “see miles to go before I sleep”?  Because my usual jam packed schedule just went from running a marathon to traveling to the moon.

Christmas schedules make me think of going through the buffet line continually adding one more item.  At the end of the line, my plate is mile high with food not even a Sumo wrestler could consume.  My eyes are definitely bigger then my stomach & calendar.  So, this morning while I was running through my ...

Your Winter Clothes are Calling

Your Winter Clothes are Calling

Do you hear the faint whisper all around you?  The feeling of longing to be discovered.  Or maybe it’s the deep sighing of exhaustion.  It’s your wardrobe speaking to you.  Summer is ready for a good rest while winter is trying to stretch into the light.

Even if you are still experiencing warmer weather, you need to rotate your wardrobe from summer to winter to get you more in the mood for winter.  And, so you’ll be prepared for the unexpected Arctic blast.  You certainly don’t want to be caught early one morning frantically digging through clothing, throwing tops & bottoms out of the way of warmer wear only to realize…oops, those items don’t fit anymore.

So the sooner you tackle this bi-annual right of passage, the ...

Conquer the Holidays

Conquer the Holidays

Every January I promise myself it will never happen again.  Then, a year goes by & I’m in the same predicament.  Yes the extra pounds are there to loose right after I sleep for a week.  And my week of sleep & lack of eating will help my credit card bill too.  But this promise is the Big Daddy Promise.  If I kept this one, it would help with the little ones too.

The Big Daddy Promise is where I promise myself I will get a handle on the holiday season schedule…….. (You can stop laughing now.)  This is possibly the Mount Everest of schedules these days.  Not only are you expected to keep up with your crazy, hectic regular life, but from ...

Unorganized Priorities

School is back into swing full time now.  YEAH!  The kids are in school!  It means more normalcy,  a solid routine each day, no one telling you, “Mom, I’m BORED!”.  But, wait, here comes all the after school commitments.  There’s piano lessons, football practice, volleyball practice, soccer practice, all-weekend tournaments, sleep-overs, friends over, school projects and don’t forget plain old homework.

When are you going to find time just to accomplish your basic schedule; working out, eating right, mediation/prayer time and dare I say sleep.  It seems there aren’t enough hours in the day to make it all happen.  It makes you want to call 911 for help.

Here’s a simple little secret all emergency personnel already know.  In ...
